Northern Ireland Recording Studio :: Komodo Recording Studios :: Mobile Recording, Mixing, Mastering, Duplication, PA, Graphics

KOMODO has a long history of recording different types of Jazz groups. We have recorded players from contemporary jazz orchestras (such as UYJO) to small jazz bands, understanding their different sounds and needs. For large orchestras, we can use our mobile recording facility, but for small jazz bands our studio is usually best for the session.

Well before the booked date, we visit your suggested location for the recording to ensure that it is appropriate.
On the day of the recording, we arrive before the band to set up so that the band can turn up, warm up, and get straight into the recording. Our engineers understand issues such as sore lips and are very conscious of the performance suffering due to tiredness. Never rushing the recording, we stay until the bandmembers either leave, disband or collapse on the floor. If all solos and vocals are not recorded during the location recording session(s) the studio is available for overdubs, although these are often better recorded in the same ambience as the band.

The recording studio itself has a relaxed atmosphere, where those recording can work hard while those not recording can sit in, or relax in front of the TV. Using Protools with quality microphones, quiet microphone preamps, solid-state and valve outboard gear and tasty plug-ins we can get you the sound you need.

Although not absolutely necessary, conductors and representatives of the band are invited to attend the mixing sessions, so we can ensure your absolute satisfaction with the end result.

Mastering is the last process that a recording undergoes before duplication. KOMODO offers mastering as a separate service for anyone wanting the best sound out of an already mixed tape or CD, but we also include it in all of our own recordings. Once the mixes are complete, our mastering engineer ensures that the different songs work well side by side, and that the final CD plays back faithfully on as many systems as possible. This is achieved by an objective experienced professional using the latest in sound technology. The process can range from a simple job of level changes and subtle EQ to quite radical surgical procedures to bring lifeless muddy recordings up to their full potential.

You can either design your own, or we can help you put together graphics for your CD. KOMODO takes care of the whole process.

If you are designing your own graphics, please submit the element of the design (layers) seperately, as we often need to make small changes which cannot be made if the text is embedded in the background.

Please submit your graphic ideas in the following formats (preferably PC):

.tif | .jpg | .bmp | .gif | .psd

KOMODO offers Cassette and CD duplication, including on-body printing. A number of CDs with full graphics are included in some of our finance schemes. For details call 02892 688 285.

KOMODO offers Sound Reinforcement to our demo customers at reduced prices. We are fully mobile and can cater for small to medium-sized PA. Thanks to our responsible approach to sound reinforcement, we can promise to ‘reinforce' your sound for the audience, and NOT detract from what is going on on-stage or deafen everyone.
